Mulroney got the operational deficit under control, but not the overall structural deficit Trudeau the 1st left behind. It was drastic cuts to everything including the military which was slashed in manpower and budget by nearly 20% and dozens of bases closed from 93 to 98. In the 93 budget he cut the civil service by 38,000.
Paul Martin ran a balanced budget and Canada was a world leader in kyoto Protocol. I was in my teens, I was still working but in middle school and high school.
